Introduction to Server Rules:

ThC established a policy around the end of July 2001 where admin access is granted to ThC members only after they affirm to uphold the server administration guidelines as they are written. There are some variances in interpretation, and there is some wiggle room in them, but the essence of the guidelines is to try to establish a baseline for decent behavior on the server and for administration of the server.

The guidelines are designed to encourage friendly, fun, and fair play on the server. This includes a ban on foul language, as well as personal insults, though game related insults are allowed. It is hard to maintain a friendly server environment if someone calls you a flaming goat turd. We want it to be a fun experience for everyone. The CPA servers are not a public forum, and thus, freedom of speech does not apply here. It is like going to your friends home and swearing at their parents. You can say what you like but don't expect to be welcome there, or allowed back in.

In general, the folks who visit Combat PA are a community. We play together every day, sometimes on the same team, sometimes not. True friendships have developed through this constant exposure to each other, and we communicate outside of the game through our message boards at www.tgghaus.com. It is this sense of community that we try very hard to foster.

It has been said here that if you don't act like a jerk, you won't be treated like one. Many people believe that the pseudo-anonymity that the Internet provides is a license to act like an ass whenever they feel like it. The reality is that you *are* accountable for your actions, you are *not* as anonymous as you believe, and while you play as a guest on our server, you will have to follow the rules of our server. It is as simple as that.

Sometimes admins make mistakes, and might kick the wrong person by mistake. They're only human. I even got kicked off of my own server by [ThC]+Arkangel+ once. He didn't think it was me. Right now, kicks are only set to 3 minutes, so you should be able to get right back in unless the server is full. If you do something wrong, and get kicked, you are welcome to rejoin the server as long as you behave yourself. If you don't, you may risk getting banned for as much as 50 hours before you can rejoin the server. Folks who are real troublemakers may be banned from the server forever.

There is accountability for usage of admin powers. Whenever someone makes an allegation of admin abuse, I investigate that allegation. I talk with the admin involved, and they must explain the reasoning behind their actions. In some cases, a full clan discussion ensues about the rightness of that decision, and, ultimately, if necessary, the admin guidelines may be updated.

The reason why we have these rules is not to unjustly kick people from our servers, nor is it because we are power mad. It is to foster a certain, friendly type of game environment that is fun to play in. Many of the people who visit our servers are young and not necessarily fully mature. As such, we often have folks testing the rules and what they can get away with, with obvious results.

It is important to realize that admins like to play too. And having to stop playing to deal with some idiot detracts from the fun of playing the game for us. It makes us worse when someone starts arguing with us about it as well, because we just want to get back to playing. So, please, just be nice, follow the server rules, and have a great time.

We hope you have a great time on our servers,

PHX-Mouse, and the rest of the ThC clan.

Server Rules

No friendly/team vehicle stealing. You can steal the enemies vehicles.

No teamkilling or Base killing - killing your own base/defenses.

No Zapping teammates with your elf gun or any other gun

No being a nuisance. Examples: shocklancing friendly ships on the vehicle pads, shocklancing players off of vehicle stations, disking folks away from inventory stations, detpacking defenses, blocking doors, shooting friendly ships, etc.

Be nice to other players. Be courteous. Rude or abusive behavior is not tolerated.

No Obscene language or abusive behavior. No personal insults. Game related insults are ok. It's ok to make fun of someone in a game sense (I've seen @#%$roaches shoot better than you!) but not in a personal sense (You f!@#$!#$ n(#$**** \, Your momma !@$#%&! goats!). Freedom of speech does not exist in a private arena.

No Obscene or racially insulting user names, such as SuperNigga.

You may be teamchanged by an admin, usually to even out the teams. Don't whine. There are other servers. If you switch back after an admin changes your team, you'll probably get kicked.

Base Camping/Base raping IS allowed. If you don't want your base raped then your entire team should not go offense.

Out of bounds Sniping IS allowed, out of bounds play is allowed. Some maps only allow approach from 1 to 3 sides. It is unrealistic to expect that people will not take advantage of a tactical option if it exists.

Sniping vehicle stations IS allowed. Don't like getting sniped while you're helpless at a vehicle station? Use assault armor and shields.

Spawn Sniping/Killing IS allowed, primarly because there's not much we can do to prevent it, and often times a person you just killed respawns next to you.
However, there is one exception. Standing directly behind a spawnpoint with a sniper rifle waiting for someone to spawn is grossly unfair.

Spamming the server (ie, saying the same thing over and over again) is prohibited.

If the server is full, observers will be asked to play or leave and will be kicked after a short period so that others who want to play can get in the game. It's ok to observe at other times when the server is not full, but the Combat PA servers are very popular and we encourage you to play rather than taking a slot for someone else who could be playing.

Admins always win in disputes.

Don't ask for admin rights to the server. Thank you for your interest in wanting to contribute to our server, however, only ThC clan members and Integral employees will receive admin access to the server.

If someone is causing trouble on the server, we will kick them. If they come back again and still refuse to behave, we will ban them from the server. If a player continues to cause trouble, they will be banned forever from the server. Continued use of the server after that point is an illegal act. Integral Corporation will act to have their internet service discontinued and press charges if necessary. It may be only a game, but threats to crash a server is illegal and actually crashing one is a FELONY.
